NJ TRANSITGRID Industry Outreach Event

NJ Transit is about to embark on a cutting-edge TRANSITGRID project that will implement a microgrid capable of providing reliable power for the vital rail system operated by NJ TRANSIT and other operators of the Northeast Corridor. The microgrid will supply highly resilient power during critical times when the regional electric grid may be compromised due to storms or other events.

In an effort to raise awareness about this exciting project, an industry outreach event is being held on December 12, 2017. Attendees at this event will receive project details and have intentional opportunities to network with New Jersey Transit, Jacobs, and peer team members. The event will review the project scope, requirements, and potential challenges. This event does not constitute part of the overall procurement process but instead acts as a preliminary discussion of the project to encourage thoughtful teaming arrangements and to inform of upcoming procurement activities.

This event will hold two sessions:

Morning Session - Vendors Only
9:00am - 12:00pm

This session will discuss the project basis of design, equipment configurations, Buy America, and procurement requirements. It will inform the vendor community on potential supply opportunities for large specialized equipment that NJ Transit intends to procure. Intended audiences include suppliers for gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery boilers, static frequency converters / StatCOM, large power transformers, and high voltage equipment. Networking sessions will be held before and after this discussion.

Afternoon Session - DBOM Firms
1:00pm - 4:00pm

This session will discuss the project overview, equipment basis of design, procurement requirements for the Design, Build, Operate, Maintain (DBOM) contract, expected operations and maintenance (O&M) contract duration, and DBOM procurement process for the project. Expected audiences include engineering, construction, and O&M firms that have a long history in the power plant and rail support business. A networking session will be held before and after this discussion.
